The Villa
We take great pride in the authenticity and beauty of our homeaway. It was part of Taman Mertasari estate. This fabulous garden compound has been created in the “80 “ by several friends lovers of Balinese people & culture. and more specially by an artist Brent Hesselyn, a pioneer in Bali.
At that time Taman Metarsari was the place to be.
Our wish was to keep the spirit and the ethnic charm of this old colonial style estate, while bringing some chic laughter and a touch of contemporary elegance. No detail has been overlooked and great care has been taken during renovation done the ten first months of 2010.
From the moment you enter through the "aling-aling", a short screen wall set behind the wooden garden doors functioning in the Balinese hindu philosophy to protect the property from troublesome, you enter a world of enchantment. Discover a large compound : 1600 m2 of privacy and exclusivity shaded by huges coconuts trees in a tropical surrounding.
The design of villa Arimbi Sanur is based on the traditional Balinese architectural : a concept where the garden is the focal point of Balinese living and the different pavilions are laid around in separates style alang alang roof bungalows according to its function. The estate has six separate pavilions for open thatched living spaces and intimate sleeping pavilions.
Bale And Lotus pond
Water is the predominant feature in this villa. The peaceful centerpiece of the garden is the bale, a relaxation pavilion surrounded by a lotus and water lily fishpond amidst scented frangipanis. Water cooled breezes bring natural air conditioning into its confines.
Living and Dining Pavilion
It’s refreshing to relax on a colonial style fan cooled space verandah and take the scents views and sounds of the surrounding tropical garden. Enjoy Balinese food in the dining room and follow the rythme of an open living tropical in an environment of harmony and serenity.

Recline in the lounge an exquisite open-air living area for a lazy afternoon cocktail ,watch the splendid sunset across the coconut trees or enjoy a movie in the corner dedicated to TV. The several living spots allows each one both privacy and space to relax, or mix to enjoy the company of others.
Pool Jacuzzi, deck and pool side bale
Swim laps , take a dip or just lay in the sun by the edge of the wooden deck of the large private plunge pool. Wind down in the Jacuzzi surrounded by lotus after a day visiting Bali, shopping playing golf. or kite surfing. Take a snack, play cards or just chat with friends in the poolside bale, a cosy unformal area with its white palimanan wall .

Bedrooms
Villa Arimbi boasts three Sleeping Pavillons that can sleep up to a total of 10 guests in five distinctive bedrooms. In addition an adjacent small room and the Lumbung can sleep up to 3 kids or teenagers.
Our wish was to find the way joining simplicity of nature with contemporary flair and tradition elements to make an environment of harmony and serenity in every bedroom. Each room and bathrooms is designed in a uniquely different style has its own distinct character and charm and agrees with people who care about personalized details.
Our challenge was to make each room different while making sure they all flowed together. They find a link in the warm brown of numerous antique carved teak doors, merbabu wood of window frames walls and parquet floors, providing a lovely contrast against the greenery of the tropical plants.
Each bedroom contain king keen or two single beds with mosquito net canopies. They have been designed with luxury furnishings, plush pillow - top mattresses, fine linen ,large wardrobes, safety boxes and are all provided with air conditioning , and fans in the uppers rooms. They are equipped with a safe deposit box, flat screen TV and DVD player on request , and iPod music player. They are completed with six bathrooms in harmony with the theme of each bedroom .

Warm atmosphere of wood, antique Chinese furniture, old Balinese photographs, a leather straps trunk suitcase, teak staircase, beautiful old fashion windows on three sides with insects screen, create a nostalgic atmosphere, and recalls a romantic era of travel.
This large masteroom is spread on the first floor of the Temple Sleeping Pavillon together with an elegant ensuite bathroom and an open to the sky natural stones two persons shower : one for you Madam and the other for you Sir.

Nomad
The ecru decor with warm earthy tones wood furnishings, large twins beds topped with delicate round mosquito nets, create a relaxing and natural atmosphere for the nomad bedroom set up on the ground level of the Temple Seeping Pavilion.

Ivory black out curtains drawn at night ensure total privacy and a good night’s sleep. The semi open tropical courtyard bathroom maximizes natural elements. It features a grey terrazzo bathtub, two natural stones basin and outside both a rain shower and a convenient hand shower fittings
Shalimar
A colorful ambiance gives an intimist and intoxicating atmosphere of exotic gardens to this high ceilinged bedroom of the first floor of the Pond Pavilion. The decor to ignite the senses, balances subtle purple and red with contrasts of wood : the old Balinese teakwood bed and a massive antique teak desk of Chinese merchant.
It overlooks the pond and the beautiful surrounding gardens of Mertasari. An ensuite bathroom with a hand shower and two chic pedestal marble basins is linked with another adjoining lovely room features with a single bed. It can used as a huge dressing room or be the perfect bedroom for one child.

Lumbung
The ‘lumbung' one small wood house with lots of character can be used as extra sleep for 1 or 2 teenagers. This authentic rice granary is part of Bali's unique cultural heritage. Traditionally used to store rice under the protection of the goddess Dewi Sri.
The few lumbungs of the Taman Mertasari estate were the first ones in Bali to be modified into private rooms almost 30 years ago on the idea of the owner Brent Hesselyn. We are lucky to still have one of these treasure!
